Now on the Mediterranean leg of its 6-year voyage around the world, the Energy Observer boat is undertaking this journey with the aim of completing it without emitting greenhouse gases or fine particles through the use of hydrogen and renewable energies. The team behind Energy Observer is on an odyssey to spread awareness of the possibilities in powering marine transportation through renewable energy. First built in 1983 in Canada by naval architect Nigel Irens, the catamaran had a racing career prior to its transformation into a model for sustainable transport for the future. The boat is set to travel to Northern Europe in 2019 and the Americas in 2020 with the help of their sponsors including Toyota Motor Europe. Learn more from Energy Observer.
